Thank you for all your diligent work, MD-team.
What is the difference between LQ & HQ release (except for the first letter)?
That can usually mean a great number of things; in the case of MD -
and someone correct me if I'm wrong - the lq version is taken from
the weekly/(bi-)monthly/etc. magazine release, while the HQ version
is taken from the Tankoubon re-release that usually follows for
successful magazine serials. The paper and print quality of the latter
is considerably higher, so contrast, detail and sharpness of the image
are generally higher, too. The whole things seems cleaner, if you want.
The editing process seems (from the outside) to be almost the same,
although, in case of the HQ version, Pet and friends don't have to
remove as much detritus (ads, notices) as in the lq version. Conversely,
the HQ version usually doesn't have the colour pages that sometimes
occur in the lq (Sunday Magazine) release, since the pages in
question are usually monochrome in the Tankoubon reprint.
PS: When it sometimes seems that there is no big difference
between the two versions, then that's testament to Pet(and
the team)'s uncanny editing skills. ^_^
