Toward the finals
« on: January 29, 2010, 11:35:54 AM »
ohohoh how clever a news title that is.

I'm not only speaking of the amazing french handball team, who, I hope, will go to final of the european championship and win it. (guys i've been rooting for you for years and i'd love to see you grab the three crowns at the same time).

But also, sadly, the final of Cross Game.

There is LOTS of answer in this week chapter. So for once i'll put an advice, go read the chapter before reading the comments on this thread, cause there is no way in hell there won't be spoilers.

Now that I said it, you can all congratulate the French team. and also (mostly?) our amazing crew member who brought you this week chapter in such a short time (did we released that fast already?)

anyway, less talk, more reading: Cross Game part3c158

Happy reading folks. And I expect a tonz of comments. don't make me angry by leeching, reading, enjoying and not posting anykind of feedback.

Thanks very much for the great effort and super fast release again!

Can't believe I could have been right in conjecturing it will all end on chp 160! :P

And all best for the French team's success!

PS: can't believe I'm the first to reply a thread for once! ;D

(I haven't read it yet, so no danger for any spoiler! ;))

Holy shit.

That was amazing.

I guess we know what Koh told her now. What a way to come through, seriously - now THAT is how you confess. You throw 160, you go to the Koshien, and now she knows you weren't lying.

I was wrong about the resolution, but I don't care. Amazing, amazing chapter, and even if they didn't show us the speed, we know what he threw.

My hat is off to Adachi. One of the best chapters he's ever written.

Thank you very much for getting it out, guys!

Yeah that chapter was an amazing chapter. I can't think of a better way to conclude that relationship.

Good lord.

Using the lie as an excuse to actually confess. way to go Koh. way to go !

Wow, I've been following the whole story through your great work, so thank's a lot.

I'm frustrated it'a already over, but it was an overwhelming climax, so I enjoyed it. Chapters 155 and 157 were specialy intense, and even if I found this one a little bit disapointing regarding previous ones, it'a nice ending. Maby less deep than Rough one (which is the very best Adachi's end) but great.

Really....it's not the end? :o

Hope not....~_~

Wasn't that pitch to Mishima right down the middle? Reminds me of that senkawa game in H2

Thanks for the chapter, MD. You guys are Good People (TM).

First, this is not the last chapter; four reasons:

1) I won't have that! ^_^;
2) No "end of Cross Game" declaration anywhere
3) Still two chapters to go for volume 17
4) On the cover of SS they titled it "Climax" and CG cries
for a nice little afterword, or two

Now, nice little chapter. I was just amazed at how much Aoba
trusted Koh to be truthful about lying; she seems to have doubted
his intentions until the very end, and only realised Koh was really
trying to go for all of it, when she saw that last pitch to Mishima.

Great cinema!

[...] Wasn't that pitch to Mishima right down the middle?

Unlikely, then it couldn't have been a ball; Akaishi was holding the mitt
pretty level. It's difficult to read his expression in that scene, though.
He could be surprised that it was called a ball or just realising that this
was probably their victory. It must have been somewhat special, though
or Mishima would surely have at least tried to hit, unless his hesitance
had other reasons.

Even their coach said that ball was "a close pitch".

It might have been a bit too much on the outside.

I do think that Koh using "lying" as an excuse to make his confession a great piece of art ^__^

Thanks a lot for the chapter. Man, it was thrilling ! :D

Anyway, I wonder what Aoba will think... "Is it okay if I lie ?" I mean, she could consider that in the three things that he told, there is a lie... And since he didn't lie about the two first...

You throw 160, you go to the Koshien, and now she knows you weren't lying.

But I prefer the way you see what he meant ! :D
But with my way, Adachi could make the story longer... Hopefully... Pretty please...?  ;D

I'm pretty sure Koh was presenting it as an 'all in one' promise - "I mean all of these things." Since he followed through on the first two, she knows he meant the third one.

And yeah, I think the 160 pitch was close to either the inside or the outside corner. It's pretty clear to me that Mishima just couldn't swing - it was too fast for him to even foul off. He had no choice but to let it go by. And Mishima knew better than anyone that he simply couldn't take a walk in that position - he was the only person who had ANY chance of tying the game up, so he basically HAD to swing at that pitch. But he couldn't.
